THE FULL STORY FROM PRO-PUBLICADrug companies cheerfully pay hundreds of millions in fines so they can feed you unapproved-for-you drugs and make what they consider their rightful Billions while you die by the thousands On Monday, the Department of Justice announced that GlaxoSmithKline agreed to pay a $3 billion fine, the largest health care fraud fine in the history of the United States. ProPublica's Lena Groeger writes that, "This fine is just the latest in a string of drug company penalties for improper promotion of drugs for 'off-label,' or unapproved, uses." She catalogs six recent multi-million dollar fines that drug companies have agreed to pay for inappropriately, and in some cases illegally, promoting prescription drugs. The companies involved in these cases include Eli Lilly, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Merck, Abbott and, of course, GlaxoSmithKline. Neil Barron is an incredible human being, remindful of a British chap named Hawking, who has fought through impossible physical restrictions on his failing body to bring the world priceless knowledge. He is raising funds (and is more than halfway there) for long term treatments at Beike in China, by far the world leader in treating neuro disorders with stem cells. But getting anti-patient American govt beaureacrats to agree to do something, anything, to improve his life is against the anti-stem cell rules.
