No one can stop ALS today, but we CAN slow it down
ALS. If you have it, you probably feel a sense of hopelessness. A couple in South Dakota, along with RSCI’s Medical Director and the chief investigator for one of RSCI’s leading affiliated stem cell treatment clinics are all here to give you some good news that will bring a lot of hopefulness back into your life.
If you’re of a certain generation, you know ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.” You’ve seen the grainy 1939 newsreels of a the frail star first baseman for the New York Yankees, once known as the “Iron Man,” tell a packed Yankee Stadium crowd, “I might have been given a bad break, but I’ve got an awful lot to live for.”
Seventy-five years later, if you’re of a more recent generation, you’ve watched HD YouTube clips of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, in which movie stars, celebrities, even politicians doused themselves with buckets of freezing ice water to raise money to research this dreaded, progressive, neurodegenerative disease that mercilessly affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. To date, no one knows the cause, and therefore, there is no cure.
Enter a South Dakotan couple, Jewel and Keith (Keeter) Porter. Keeter was diagnosed with ALS 3 years ago and has predictably lost some of his basic functions. But, with 4 stem cell treatments under the guidance of Dr. Melvin Propis, Chief Investigator of the RSCI affiliated South Florida Stem Cell Center, and Dr. Jim Braly, RSCI’s Medical Director and world-renown, ground-breaking nutritionist, Keeter’s condition has stabilized and according to Jewel, “We are living with ALS and doing our best to stay positive.”
How could they afford four separate treatments? Let Dr. Braly explain: “Each of the repeat Propis stem cell treatments utilized stem cells derived from excess fat-tissue stem cells from the first treatment stored and frozen, with the cost of each subsequent treatment substantially reduced.”
Jewel recently wrote to Dr. Braly, whose nutrition counseling has been helping Keeter remain as strong as possible for an ALS patient:
Keeter has had a good stretch of stabilization. . . There has been some deterioration, but very slow. He can’t swallow anymore and his tongue is having difficulties in spitting. BUT that doesn’t hinder him much. His spirit soars!
Jewel and Keith are preparing, with great hopefulness, for another stem cell treatment, and as always RSCI is will be there for them with the most personalized treatment and support available anywhere. No one can stop ALS yet, but we can slow it down in most cases.
